The KS Large bore Pistons Group is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of large-bore pistons. The company offers perfect solutions for pistons with diameter ranging from 130 to 640 mm. Our pistons are made out of aluminium, spheroidal graphite iron or steel as well as combinations of theses materials for all customer applications.

In addition to pistons for conventional fuels, we can also provide product solutions for alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia or methanol.

Steel monoblock pistons

Our pistons for heavy-duty applications — a two-piece steel piston with a cooling channel sealed by friction welding or laser welding.

Composite pistons with steel skirt

Our pistons for special applications with a crown and skirt made of 42 CrMo 4 steel. The steel crown and the forged skirt are bolted together.

The material used is suitable for alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia and methanol

Composite pistons with NCI skirt

Our composite pistons with a conventionally designed rigid steel crown section and an NCI 70 skirt with corresponding dimensions.

For ignition pressures up to 27 MPa
The material used is suitable for alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia and methanol

NCI monoblock pistons

Our pistons in diameters from 170 to 350 mm made of NCI 70 — since 1973.

High strength
Low thermal expansion of the material allows the manufacturing of thin-walled pistons and the introduction of low running clearances
Simple design with integrated cooling spaces
The material used is suitable for alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia and methanol

Composite pistons with aluminum skirt

Our composite pistons with a rigid steel crown and a forged aluminum skirt made of KS 1275 — since 1960.
